The idea for a Florilegium came about over a chat between members back in 2010.

It was to coincide with the 150 year anniversary of the Christchurch Botanic Gardens in 2013. The plants described were all chosen from the botanic gardens and Riccaton Bush, the only area of podocarp forest remaining in Christchurch.

The exhibition of the paintings in the Canturbury Plains Florilegium were initially hung in the new information centre in the Christchurch Botanic Gardens in April 2014, before travelling to and showing at -
