Artistic Approach:

Art has always been Jenny’s primary passion, though it emerged as her second career in reality.

Originally from China, Jenny migrated to New Zealand in 1998. Her initial profession was in the medical field, spanning hospitals in China, the Middle East, and New Zealand, with a specialisation in interventional cardiovascular nursing. However, in 2018, Jenny made the pivotal decision to transition from surgical instruments to paintbrushes, embarking on the professional painting career she had long envisioned since childhood.

Despite life leading her down a winding path, the brush has remained her steadfast companion. During her 26-year residency in New Zealand, she has actively participated in local, national, and international exhibitions and competitions, earning numerous accolades and attracting a devoted following of collectors.

Jenny has explored diverse painting mediums, ranging from live sketches and Chinese traditional painting to classical oil paintings, encompassing portraits and landscapes, ultimately finding her niche in botanical watercolours.

In 2020, Jenny graduated with distinction from the Society of Botanical Artists (SBA) located in London, earning the title DipSBA (Dist) and currently holds fellowship status with the SBA, along with membership in the Botanical Art Society New Zealand (BASNZ). She contributes actively to the Waiheke Community Art Gallery and is a member of the New Zealand Chinese Academy of Calligraphy & Painting.

Jenny’s artworks have garnered attention both locally and internationally, featured in art galleries and acquired by collectors abroad. Her paintings have been published in three issues of publications such as the New Zealand Institute of Chinese Calligraphy and Painting magazines and a dedicated feature in a Chinese art web-magazine. In 2022, Jenny shared insights into her artistic journey in an interview with the Waiheke Gulf News.

Jenny and her husband reside on the picturesque Waiheke Island, where she finds solace and inspiration in her studio amidst music and flowers, cherishing the blessings of each day.
